Evaluating Implied Urban Nature Vitality in San Francisco: Street View, Census & Social Media

Abstract

Proposes Implied Urban Nature Vitality (IUNV), a framework for evaluating human–urban–nature interaction that goes beyond the 2D mapping of green-space distribution most studies rely on. Applied to San Francisco using three data sources — census, street-built environment and social media — it analyses the socio-economic influences on green-space distribution and on population-level perceived vitality, including education, age, income and ethnicity.
